IIRC, the "Cabal" being exposed by Q Anon was made up of people drinking children's blood to maintain their youth.

So Thiel's thirst for youthful blood is ... What?
Their denial of the body as merely a vessel for code is shown daily by the way these men treat actual living human beings, including the ones who work for their companies.

These men are chasing their own personal immortailty over piles of corpses. They're the closest thing we have to vampires tbh.

The desire to treat AI as having a soul is based on the same pathological terror at their own mortality that drives these same men to invest in life extension foundations.

If the AI has a soul, then consciousness is code and their own consciousness can be uploaded and thus they can live forever.

Saw an interesting piece of advice recently: ask the AI search engines for an answer in a field in which you are very knowledgeable.

The results will make it clear just how much they get wrong, and how brazen they are about it.

Now, apply that to every subject in which you are NOT an expert.
Looked up “what mobile parking app do I need for <this town>” - AI summary on Google confidently gave me the wrong answer, which I ignored because **it is wrong a third of the time, about ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING** (according to the last study I read.)

The shit just doesn’t work.

As a software and statistics coder, I can affirm that even on something as formulaic as code, the LLM is very inferior. I lose productivity having to pull it out of rabbit holes, refine its results, when not having to discard them entirely. I also find that the brain develops an unhealthy dependence

Well this 2,600-year-old clay letter was a journey.

It comes from the archive of a goldsmith named Nabû-zeru-iddin in the heart of ancient Assyria. We’ve got someone left on read, a lawsuit, a mean step-mom, and people who get drunk and steal silver.

Today on Volts: the subset of cleantech known as "electrotech" -- solar, batteries, heat pumps, etc. -- is marching toward inevitable victory, not because it's low-emissions (though it is), but because it's more efficient & cheaper. I discuss the good news with @kingsmillbond.bsky.social.

Impossible how good reading is. You mean I just point my face at the paper for a bit and it does a whole update on my brain?

When we talk about universal basic services, one of those services should always be some cash, because of how it can become any service for anyone, anywhere, and also help connect people to services.

UBI and UBS are not opposing ideas. UBI is the foundation of a house. UBS is its pipes and wiring.

A couple of years ago, I brought in a gift typewriter for a checkup, and this is indeed a magical place. I particularly enjoyed seeing the foreign-language typewriters on his racks, including one with a Ukrainian alphabet.

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

"Every scene does 3 things or out it goes"
#writersky #writingcommunity
I almost always have a scene early in the book where bunch of people sit around a table and talk about what the plot actually is. Caught myself at it again tonight and moved it to a church instead so it would do triple duty as worldbuilding and add conflict. Every scene does 3 things or out it goes

Another thousand words today. Most importantly, tho, I have a clean first 50 pages.

I'm not trying to sell this book on spec, so there's no rush, but clean first 50 and synopsis is what you sell on if you ARE shopping, and it's cool to feel like I'm a real writer again doing real writing things 😂
