Thank you, Brooklyn! Getting to represent the neighborhoods that raised me is the greatest privilege of my life.

Honored to join Israelis for Peace, @standing-together.bsky.social, and @bradlander.bsky.social. We mourn, we pray, and we stand united — Jewish, Muslim, Palestinian, Israeli New Yorkers — demanding compassion, courage, and real leadership. We keep the hope of peace alive by showing up together.

Huge moment today: Intro 1076 was heard in committee! This bill ensures MENA-owned businesses are finally counted and can qualify for M/WBE certification if disparities are found. Now let’s get it passed!

I joined the Carroll Gardens Association to launch their Raise the Rates pilot in our 39th District, a campaign to set a fair minimum wage for nannies at $30/hour. Right now, no minimum wage exists for this essential workforce. Nannies are organizing, and together we’re fighting for $30.

To be a successful working-class woman of color comes with the territory of erasure. I’m sure the kids will find me the way I found Begum Rokeya among others.
And it’s just infuriating to see Shahana Hanif’s story be ignored, particularly in this moment. This won’t be the last time I rant about this, but I’ve read more about losing (almost all male) Muslim candidates than I have about the most successful Muslim woman in the history of NYC politics.

Without question, one of the hardest things I’ve taken on.
In 2021 a single, Muslim, Bangladeshi young woman raised in Kensington got elected to the NY City Council in D39, the district that de Blasio and Lander had represented. Her name is Shahana Hanif and she won re-election in 2025 with a remarkable 70% of the vote against seriously funded opposition.

The contagious energy from the No Kings rally has really carried me through a trying political week. Knowing that so many neighbors are mobilized against the callous and cruel White House keeps me fired up in this fight!

I grew up surrounded by saris. They’ve always been a part of my identity and they are part of New York’s history, too. I’m honored that the one I wore to my swearing-in is featured in the new exhibit at @NYHistory. New York Sari is on view through April!

Brooklyn is with you, AG!
This isn’t about me. It’s about all of us.

It’s about a justice system which has been weaponized. A justice system which has been used as a tool of revenge.

My faith is strong. I have belief in the justice system and the rule of law.

Today ICE arrested New Yorkers in a shameful raid on Canal Street.

I joined my colleagues outside of Federal Plaza to call for Mayor Adams to STAND UP for New York immigrants and REMOVE ICE from NYC.

We are a sanctuary city and we will protect our neighbors. #ICEOutofNY

Grateful to our elected officials for speaking on behalf of their constituents in the NY Metro Area after the horrific noise pollution during the #rydercup. #blade continues to fly their helicopters far too low over heavily populated areas created great distress to locals.

MSG has spent thousands against me for saying this, but I won’t back down. Commercial facial recognition is creepy and dangerous. It needs to be banned.
At @nygroove.nyc, James Dolan's tenure has been shot through with a "culture of paranoia." Once MSG installed facial recognition tech, he scaled up. Now a lawsuit reveals just how far he'll go to target his perceived enemies. In Dolan's mind, he has so, so many enemies nygroove.nyc/james-dolan-...

I’m proud that Democrats across the country are holding firm against the GOP’s shameful attacks on our healthcare. When we fight, we win!
We believe healthcare is a right for every American.

But starting today, millions of people will be notified that they are being priced out of their insurance thanks to Republican policies.

Enough is enough. The GOP may shut down the government, but we will stand tall for YOU.

I was honored to have been invited by Jewish constituents to join a Yizkor ceremony yesterday in Brooklyn. I was deeply moved by the rituals that reminded us: every life, a universe
Happening now: Hundreds of rabbis and Jewish community members gather in Brooklyn for a mass public memorial service on Yom Kippur, demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and for the U.S. to stop arming Israel.
