Martin, A Game of Thrones I finished my fanart of Lyanna Stark a character from "A Song of Ice and Fire". Mostly done with acrylics I used black marker and colored pencils for the eyes. In fact this piece started as a greyscale pencil drawing, but I wanted to incorporate some color and decided to paint it over. I wanted this portrait to be faithful to the book, though I'm not sure if I got the character's age right. For the reference I used a vintage photo of a woman with her head tilted down, though I don't know how well it translated into my picture.

There are some mistakes, mostly caused by the fact that I rushed this piece and didn't check out the source before I started to draw, which led to hasty changes. This applies in particular to the pose, which is incorrect (Legolas' hand should support the arrow, so it's placed too low), but by the time I noticed I was unable to fix it.

Depiction of brownskinned woman dressed in flowers and plants, lying among the ruins of a rich house with trees, forest and sun in the background. It's finaly finished! This piece has quite a long history. I first came with the idea of making it in January, when I was painting my fan art of Varda Elbereth. As I was working on it, I was listening to a song of Belarusian musician Dziwia titled "Flower Maiden". From it I got the idea of creating an artwork of woman dressed in flowers. The idea evolved in time as I decided that I would like to practice drawing people of different ethnicities. After that I was wondering about the background and what should I put in there to make it interesting to look at. I chose to depict a ruin of some rich house and trees (yes I draw a lot of trees, but I like them). The goal was to convey a message about how nature, will conquer everything and to give it a subtly magical feel. That's why in the background a spring cherry blossom is accompanied by autumnal trees. The Lady herself represents nature and have the ability to make it grow as she wills it. Originally I've got the ambitious plan to include many species of flowers/plants from different regions and to mix architectonical styles a bit, but that would require a lot of references and time, so I partially dropped this idea. Instead I chose to adorn ruined wall with the 'medieval' style paintings and to add a toppled greek like column. There are some things that could be better like a window for example, but overall I'm quite proud of this piece. Besides this artwork may be considered my tribute to warm weather; spring, summer and gentle autumn. I'm not a fan of cold and even though the winter has barely begun I already want it gone. So I'm waiting for spring and for flowers to bloom.

I wanted to draw The Illusive Man a character from Mass Effect video game franchise, as a practice. In the Mass Effect universe Milky Way is populated by many sentient species and humans are newcomers who try to find their place in the galactic community. Illusive Man is a mysterious figure and a leader of secret organization called Cerberus. They accept only humans and their methods are rather questionable. Supposedly Cerberus and their agents are helping humanity to advance, but in reality it seems that their true goal is human supremacy. All things considered The Illusive Man is a villain, but a really charismatic one. The fact that he was voiced by Martin Sheen also doesn't hurt. I tried to use the Grid Method with some partial success. Originally I planned to make this piece only with pencils and maybe markers, but I got carried away.

She's a sorceress and the priestess of god R'hllor also known as Lord of Light and the Heart of Fire among the others. Melisandre comes from the city of Asshai a mysterious place known mostly as a location where one may gain forbidden knowledge and powers. Main task of followers of R'hllor is preparation for an apocalyptic event called the Long Night that is prophesized to come again and searching for Azor Ahai reborn. Azor Ahai is a legendary hero who supposedly ended the first Long Night. Melisandre believes that king Stannis Baratheon is new Azor Ahai, so she comes to his court and convinces him to turn away from the squabbles of ordinary men and to prepare for the things to come. Despite her good intentions Melisandre is one of the most morally ambiguous characters in the series. Religion of R'hllor is based on the notion that stopping the Long Night requires some extreme sacrifices, including burning people alive. Under her influence king Stannis starts to punish those who displease him by executing them in that manner and doing other unsavory things. Like all followers of Lord of Light Melisandre has fire powers and an ability to see visions in flames. On my picture her robes, hair, figure and fire coming from her hands form the shape of a fiery heart, which is a symbol of R'hllor. In that way I wanted to show Melisandre's devotion to her god.

This picture shows a woman floating in the sky against a red sunset. She's dressed in tattered red robes and chain mail she has scarred face and no eyes. There is a sword in her hand. Depiction of my OC who's an immortal witch that draws power from blood (including her own) and communicates with ravens/crows. At some point she underwent a sort of magical transformation or perhaps resurrection. Before that she was a mercenary, so she wears some elements of armor. Of course a chain mail that is torn right where the heart is, doesn't seem like a good protection, but I wanted to show her invulnerability as she doesn't really needs armor. While making this piece I made a mistake and chose a thin paper that crumpled when I applied acrylic paint, but at first I thought that maybe I will be using mostly alcohol markers. Beside that scanner didn't get colors properly and I did some retouches in Gimp and Paint. For reference I used my old artwork of this character called "Late Hour", a photo of a sunset and poplars I took in January and photo reference "Female Cocky Walk with Cutlass Pose" by @theposearchives on DeviantArt.

"The Well Below the Valley" is an Irish variant of medieval murder ballad called "The Maid and the Palmer", which was published in several anthologies including the famous "Child Ballads". It is speculated that the song was inspired by the story of the woman at the well from the Bible. Due to its dark subject matter (infaticide and incest), it was considered unlucky by folk singers, who didn't want to perform it. The ballad was presumed to be lost in oral tradition in all British Isles. However in the sixties it was discovered, that some irish tinkerers still sung it . The Irish band Planxty popularised this ballad under the name it is known today, and since then it was covered by many artists. Despite the disturbing lyrics I find this song strangely beautitul, so I decided to make an illustration to it. I used several references such as: "Farmland at Dunloe Lower" by David Medcalf, the 15th century painting "Jesus and the Samaritan Woman at the Well" by Juan de Flandes and "Old Male Body - Reference photo pack" by @ReferencePacks .
