So part of the reason why I reclaimed my russingon fics, besides being done with acting afraid of fandom purity culture, is that I'm actually really tempted to write some stuff in Tolkien/silm fandom for the first time in almost a decade

i enjoy this fandom a lot but this sense that if you like someone you read their fic & comment is so so damaging bc on a fundamental level people are going to have different tastes. that's just the nature of being a person. if i read yr russingon fic i am just going to be resentful in rly ugly ways

you guys should join us in the time-honoured tolkien fandom tradition of embracing the most cursed ship name imaginable - 'saladriel' is the clear winner imo, it fits in perfectly with 'angbang', 'silverfisting', and my personal least favourite, 'russingon' (why is it half quenya half sindarin. omg)

Weirdly I have basically no hard and fast Silmarillion ships. Maybe because I read it when I was young? But I SEE both Melkor/Mairon and Annatar/Celebrimbor and I RESPECT them. Same with Russingon. For the Tragedy of it all
