It seems like if Rolling Stone is going to republish a story from The Trace that heavily critical of the gun industry they should disclose the conflict of interest that The Trace was founded by, is funded by and shares a present with Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group Everytown.
At least 717 million magazines, like the one used by the Brown University mass shooter, have been produced and distributed over 30 years, including a decade when the devices were banned.

On behalf of all Minnesotans, I apologize for Will Stancil. We hadn’t heard of him like a year ago either.

I’ll call Tim Walz in the morning and see if there is a way to have his internet shut off or something.

Journalistic ethics experts:

If the pres. of your newsroom is also the pres. of a gun control org is that a conflict of interest that needs to be disclosed? What if that gun control org provides 40% of your funding?

Does claiming your editorial team is independent remove the conflict of interest?
We were. We included this in episode 6. We did not include details about the president, because it is not a conflict of interest for the show. At no point did we interact with anyone other than the editorial team.

It’s hard to exaggerate how little connection you would have to someone who came over on the Mayflower. Your 11th great grandparent is one of 8,192 at that point (if your family tree never intersected) and they could easily have hundreds of thousands if not a million descendants.
If you put every American with pre-1776 ancestors in North America in one room, it would look a lot different than these people imagine it would.
If immigrating from England makes you a "heritage American" then I guess I'm one too.

Plenty of issues on which I disagree with Rep. Omar, but this--along with the stop of her son by agents--is just the latest example of regime figures engaging in political repression of their opponents.

The most enlightening part of this book was the bit about how the chief council for the ATF warned the congressional aids drafting the ‘94 Assault Weapon Ban that it wouldn’t work for the exact reasons it ended up not working. But they ignored him because he seemed like too much of a “gun guy”.
really recommend cameron mcwhirter’s book on the AR-15 www.amazon.com/American-Gun...

1/8 black Floridians is unable to own a gun due to a felony conviction and 46% of drug possession felony convictions in Florida since 2004 were against black people. Drug and gun convictions are similarly tilted in Chicago and many Dem cities.

It’s only a lie to say they’re coming for *white* guns
Shootings like the one at Brown University are political inconveniences for Republicans.

And one of the most aggravating elements of the so-called debate over gun violence is the despicable falsehood pushed by conservatives:

They are coming to confiscate your guns.
The most despicable lie from the guns-over-all gang
No, they're not coming for your guns.

Policy formats that well meaning progressives propose that are a bad idea:

- Banning a dangerous object but exempting cops from the ban.
-Banning a dangerous activity but exempting cops from the ban.
= Putting everyone who does the activity or owns the object on a list accessible by cops.

This would be a very convenient technology for ICE, who presumably would be driving vehicles that aren't subject to speed limits.
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

With the drunk driving discourse, it’s once again time to share how my father got hired to replace a town marshal who everyone called “Texas Pete” who made national news for getting run out of town for arresting too many of the locals for drunk driving.

The best our police chief can do is recommend that he be fired, but if the union objects, the decision goes to one of several state appointed arbitrators who don’t live in Duluth. One of whom already decided he gets to stay on the job after shooting the unarmed guy behind a closed door.
This same cop already shot an unarmed man thigh a closed door, negligently fired his AR-15 and crashed his cop car doing 70mph in downtown Duluth.

But we have no power to fire him because of the police union contract.

More of this please. Poverty has a stronger correlation with levels of violence than any of Michael Bloomberg’s schemes to lock up young black men.
That money is supposed to fund the building and refurbishing of 30,000 housing units. The plan also aims to provide financial assistance to homeowners and renters, remove blight, reduce the number of vacant properties, and help beautify neighborhoods.
Could Philly's $2 Billion Bet on Housing Help Reduce Gun Violence?
Research has found that fixing up abandoned homes can make a city safer. The H.O.M.E Plan calls for building and rehabbing 30,000 homes in four years.
