Central Station, Manchester. Going on 150 years old and looking as insubstantial as a soap bubble this morning.

First day out as an orphan, so feeling a bit intense.

One thing I'm enjoying about the Martin Parr RIPS today is every one has a different photo attached, including both of mine.

Sad to hear about Martin Parr. Light and warm. A critical eye that didn't criticise.

The whole thing. It's a scene of Kendal funfair after the River Lune flooded one time early last century. The chap at the steps of the Showman's living wagon might be my great, great (poss, another great) uncle Alf Hoadley, but there's no one left alive to ask.

It's quite a photo, for some reason these men are delighted to be standing waist deep in flood water.

Mam died last week and today has been finalising funeral arrangements. Brother and sister working through 100's of mother pics for display at the tea while I'm nodding along, transfixed by the faces of nameless ghosts from 100+ years ago.

It's a worldwide phenomenon. Being NW England ours are, naturally, wetter.

And enjoy a full English for every meal.

Suspicious distracting from his small boat if you ask me.

Ever get the feeling your olive oil is trying to tell you something?
November 13, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Random tyre.

Me flirting.

Trousers down. No missus!

The new tidal barrage has some design flaws.

The rare green poppy. Idk what it symbolises so the field is open for your own take.
November 6, 2025 at 11:29 AM
A third blue pic for a blue day.
November 5, 2025 at 7:08 PM
Bit more random blue, plus poo.
November 5, 2025 at 11:56 AM
A new day for the US? A search through my photo archive says yes.

I did try to push a more deliberate, focussed project around the idea of how movement through space and time alters perception. It produced some striking images but didn't coalesce to the point where the project superceded the individual images so I dropped it.

On the movement theme, pigeons.

A continuing trip through the lesser visited nooks of my archive. This is the flywheel ofa steam engine that powered Firgrove cotton mill in Rochdale. The mill produced flannelette and the engine remained in use until 1970. From the Science and Industry Museum, Manchester.

Alain Gitanes plays Jacques Shaggre, legendary detective in the new Louvre heist movie L'Échelle. Shaggre's unorthodox investigation sees him stroll around the criminal underworld of Paris in a disinterested manner, bed suspects wives and engage in postcoital angst on the nature of power and wealth.

In the process of looking for the previous pic I came across this related one. N9 recollection whatsoever.
