Supremacy at work: “There's no cost I can think of to employing a more accessible font—none, that is, other than the cost of acknowledging other people's stories.”
I began answering the common question "How do we stop abuse without becoming abusive ourselves?"

Point 1: "What is it about stopping abuse that you think puts us in such danger of becoming abusive that it is the first question you ask in response to the call to do so?"

Vile, disturbing new photos of Donald Trump that raise even more question about knowledge of abuses at Epstein's estate.

A prayer service made possible by Trump’s Christian nationalist agenda for the federal government.

Sobering story by @juliannemcshane.bsky.social

The Labor Department just held a prayer service for employees
The event went ahead despite warnings that it would violate the Establishment Clause of the Constitution, which separates church and state. The agency said it was voluntary.

Hey #FountainHills #Arizona! There's an open call to give invocations to start Town Council meetings. Prayer/explicit religious statements are divisive, unnecessary, and can violate the Establishment Clause... so sign up to give a secular invocation that's constitutional instead! 1/2

Phillips' LinkedIn posts about FEMA aren't inspiring confidence: “Specifically, [FEMA] have failed to deliver a comprehensive and detailed plan for working with the faith community,” and “those with a Christ centered approach” respond best to disasters.
SCOOP — Gregg Phillips, a conspiracy theorist with no emergency management experience who helped produce the election-denying documentary ‘2000 Mules’ with Dinesh D’Souza and has faced numerous legal inquiries, has been named head of FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery.

The US Supreme Court's simple-minded reading of the free exercise clause to give parents an unlimited right to "direct the religious upbringing of their children" does not even anticipate disagreement between the parents, let alone make room for the children to have religious agency.
A child suffered panic attacks after hearing fire-and-brimstone sermons and being told her dad might go to Hell.

A judge stepped in to stop it.

Now the Maine Supreme Court will have to decide what's more important: religion or a child's mental health?
