DO CONCURRENT communicates that an operation should be independent of order, but when there is no parallelization method the compiler must pick some order to follow. Marshall Ward ran some tests and suggests outer to inner loops. github.com/marshallward...

While still pre-alpha, the #Fortran lib FPLT now supports 8 geographical #map projections, 2 input/5 output file formats, applying/modifying plot themes, colour maps, and map templates, auto-cropping, #FORD documentation, and #FPM building. Next: Heat maps!

There are few options for map making with #Fortran, so as an old #GMT fan, I started working on a lib for creating professional geographical #maps and other plots quickly by leveraging GMT's C API and Fortran derived types. #fpm #geoscience @fortranlang.bsky.social

Used #fpm (the #Fortran package manager) for the first time and love it so far. It's modelled after #rust #cargo and makes fortran #coding a lot more convenient and accessible. Integrating other libs (from lapack to graphics interfaces) just became a lot more streamlined.
