This is an inspired bit of deduction that I will be forced to steal for fiction some time.

It's moving the goal posts from problem 1 (You have to be rich to pursue the arts) to problem 2 (Among everyone, the children of famous artists have a distinct advantage). Both definitely true. But 1's not only 100x more important, it's soluble. What's the solve for 2? Ban actors' kids from acting?

And yes, "X's kid" will enjoy a level of access and privilege that goes beyond mere wealth. Which might be why I intuit that the "merely wealthy" find it so disagreeable. It is, after all, a small taste of the unfair structural disadvantage from which they usually benefit.

In many of Jack Quaid's acceptance of being a nepo baby interviews he mentions that he got representation really early which got him auditions so it isn't just the rent is paid thing but yeah there are other issues in play.

A small, cynical part of me wonders if much of the industrial enmity toward acting nepo babies as a concept, comes from those already quite wealthy young actors - and their parents - seeing those nepo babies get a leg up over THEM. I mean they are, and it must be frustrating. But it's not the story!

I just don't feel like Kate Winslet or Timothy Spall's children are what's costing poor kids with acting talent their chance. They're missing out cos London rent is £3k so they're working doubles in Screwfix, while the kids of doctors and architects and executives and literal barons don't have to.

Obviously, an acting career is easier if your parents are actors. You'll have been around it all your life and seen firsthand that it can be done. That is a big advantage! But the wealth is what means you can go to every audition because your rent is paid and you don't need to get a call centre job.

Shocking twist, there is actually some debate about whether the testosterone dose was too high. Overall the kid seems to be doing better with it than without it.

There is literally no story here other than "Father Objects To Son's Happiness."

For years I've told people our family was so big, our christmas turkey had to be cooked by nuns.

In reality, the nuns replaced that turkey with one the size of a hatchback. I swear one year it came stuffed with a cooked ham.
