one reason everyone loves mamdani is his videos showing him interacting with the mechanisms of civic responsibility, depicting him as an efficient guardian of the public. we, like, never see this out of almost any senator or house rep
one significant problem we have is a political culture -- at least in the center-left -- which is adverse, both for cynical and principled reasons, to a political culture on the left which demands anything other than a periodic vote and autopay donations.
politicians aren't "owed" anything. they are public servants. "but i'd be sad if i retired" who CARES.
if you're out here doing the business of political agitation--you too have responsibilities. "but i'd be SAD if i was held accountable for the results of my choices--" tough tuna.

I think it’s time people realize that the acquisition of vast wealth is as damaging to the brain as a severe drug addiction. Not all these people started life without human empathy, but they sure as shit developed it.
