Quiches, made with smoked haddock. The two at the front will serve six. The biggest one at the back will serve two, and there are three individual quiches. All cooling before I open freeze them.

A flower on one of our camellia sinensis plants. Of course, if you are growing them to harvest the leaves to produce tea then plants should not be allowed to flower. 🌱🍵☕

Today I have been on this planet for 74 years.

Gifts - a stack of books, chocolates, pears, photo frames so we can finish our family wall. So many lovely messages from all my loved ones.

OH is cooking dinner, it smells divine.

There is still a lot of colour in our garden. 🌱
A red persicaria. Absolute stunner A pink cosmos and a couple of yellow pot marigolds. A lovely pinkish geraniums with red veins in the petals. A red flower the name of which escapes me ( something like hesperantus?)

My all time favourites rose, velvety red flowers , called W B Yeats. Last year it flowers until Christmas. A water lily still in flower , deep pink. A pink with yellow centred geum still flowering. A bright red geum.

Some rises still in flower!
A rather nice red rose nodding its head. This one of my favourite red roses, it is a single which flowers on and off for most of the year. A pink climber, still flowering. A beautiful creamy yellow climber, from this picture it looks superb but it is not at all a well rose.

Danni from birth to death. 3rd August 1981 to 5th September 2011.

I still miss her. I still talk to her.

Despite all that she had to go through in her short life she was so very alive, so very giving. I miss her, especially her very wicked sense of humour.

A gardening question. A couple of my leeks appear to be growing tiny leeks from the leek leaves. Does anyone know anything about this phenomenon ?

A very large cooked beetroot, most of which is now in the jars with garlic, ginger and chilli to ferment.
This year much of what we are growing to eat are rather large, no idea why.

A few shots of things growing in the garden
A lovely little pink rose peaking through other plants. The leaf in the foreground is from a ricinus plant. To the right there is some deep reddish purplish persicaria, in the top left there is some vipers bugloss just starting to set seed. A phlox, pink with darker pink centres surrounded by greenery. This is one of a lot of pots of flowers. Bottom right there is a white pelargonium, to the left there are some red and gold french marigolds, to the bottom of which are some nigella seed heads, above all of those there are the green leaves if nasturtiums with a solitary bright red flower and above that some lovely velvety purple violas. Two late season lupin spikes bluey purple.with wild carrot and fennel in the background.
