So, pols, a PSA: here in Oakland at the student-run politics club, the kids ROASTED the Senators who caved on the shutdown. These are just random kids, following the news, seeing you for the sell-outs you are, and then also making fun of your pictures for good measure.

Oakland, in 1946! Called by women clerks in department stores, expanded to 100,000 workers, lasted 2 days and was apparently a joyous street party. While it didn't effect immediate change, did result in a labor backed city council minority.

If you're a K-12 teacher, you should read books! Often! Regularly! It makes you a better thinker, and often, a better human -- both things a real bonus when working with youth!
