Science communication tramp.

I’ve been an informal science educator and vaccine advocate long enough to know that anti-science is not partisan.

People show us who they are by who they choose to represent them.

In photosynthesis, oxygen is a waste gas expelled during food production.

As best we know, Cyanobacteria was the the 1st to do this; making the Earth’s atmosphere livable for aerobic multicellular life, like us.

So we owe our existence to these germs farting the oxygen we need to breathe.

I can’t be the only one who remembers Vincent Price as Egghead, in the Batman TV series.

That and the Sherlock Holmes themed anniversary issue are 2 of my favorites.

Germ farts, Uranus puns, quips about politicians being like sea stars and anemones: using humor in science communication has been my schtick in class presentations, at Pacific Science Center and continues at the Padilla Bay aquarium.

Looking forward to hearing about his take & techniques, tonight.

Another Kolchak:Nightstalker crossover.

Forget mutha&$@%in’ snakes on a mutha&$@%in’ plane.

It was watching Balsam’s character lose little parts of his body through “Little Big Man” that made me realize the story was a parody of “Candide.”

Balsam’s Mr Merriweather was Voltaire’s Dr Pangloss.

It really is a wondrous moment, isn’t it?

I lived near, and played in, wooded areas nearly my entire life
-on both coasts.

Yet, it was only 2 years ago, just shy of my turning 60, before I actually saw one.

Only seen 4 more since.

My wife got me this after the 1st one; learned a lot from it:

Doing public engagement of #science in nonprofit venues, I tend to be a little more subtle.

The time for being subtle has long since passed.

I’ll be keeping the decal I just affixed to my water bottle conspicuously placed while at the aquarium today, as well as its original message for #vaccines.
