The bill had a hearing on Tuesday, March 4. The good news is that we did not vote on it, so it is still pending in the subcommittee.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to support protecting women’s freedom in South Carolina, especially to the women who shared heart-wrenching personal stories and the medical professionals who shared their expertise.

We believe that public money belongs in public schools. Just last year, the state Supreme Court agreed with us, ruling that vouchers are unconstitutional. This fight will soon go back to the Court and we hope that it will again protect the 750,000 students who rely on public education in our state.

Democrats opposed S. 62 and fought to change its most harmful provisions. Republicans voted down nearly all of our amendments, including those to:
- ban discrimination in admissions
- ensure adequate funding for students in rural areas
- require financial transparency
