The extended mixes of those two songs let the parts breathe, though they were ultimately an afterthought. It will likely be the case for the rest I've got planned for next year.

This comes out to about 19GB of raw audio, by the way - though I suspect there will be a lot of duplicated renders since not every chart has unique playback sound cues, even though the player keys might be different.

The big thing I am trying to figure out right now is, what kind of interpolation is being used for lower sample rates. I can tell with lower frequency content that something is being used. But if it's something with a lookup table (like SNES's interpolation) then I'll have to pick it apart in a ROM.

The arcade machines have a hard drive in them, and use two of these chips. Songs get banks of 16 megabytes for each song, and pressing the keys plays short samples from it.

I am a rhythm game enthusiast, so getting the audio just right is crucial :) MAME had wrong DPCM tables for years.

I have my opinions about cryptocurrency, but if it's the only method you've got to stay on necessary meds, sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and do it. If medical systems in place weren't so hostile about prescribing it, I wouldn't have had to do it myself for a period of a couple years.
