Nobody who voluntarily draws a paycheck from ICE should be allowed anywhere near government or civil service. There's no innocent reason to apply to work for ICE, you did that because you wanted to hunt brown people

I thought that my cringe by association was maxed out by Bobby Jindal. Then Vivek Ramaswamy. Then Usha Vance. But no one makes me want to apologize for my people more than Kash Patel. What a snively asshole who ticks all the negative stereotypes of an arrogant condescending self-centered Indian man.

I'm seeing a lot of cynical reactions to this move from Cory Booker. And I get it!! But performative opposition is a necessary part of effective opposition from the minority. Not sufficient, but necessary. And our electeds need to know we notice when they do well and not just when they do poorly.

Goddamn right. It’s a stunt and I’m here for it. Do all the stunts. Act a fool. Make yourself seen. Be performative. Ham it up.
yall we can’t collectively screech that “no one’s doing anything!” and then say “no not like that” when someone actually does something.

is Booker’s filibuster gonna save the world? of course not. but since courage begets courage it could lead to more. I’m fucking cynical as hell but come on.

Dear university presidents:

There’s no appeasing this administration or the rabid American right.

They hate and resent you and everything you represent. They want to destroy you and your institutions.

If they succeed, all is lost.

Do you god damn job and stand the fuck up for your students.

I had forgotten what an insufferably colonial space Paleoanthropology was. Ew. Thank god for the #AABA and other subfields of bioanthropology for being 1000x better.

some helpful reminders:

-not all jews support israel
-criticizing israel is not the same as being antisemitic
-being pro-palestine does not equal being pro-hamas
-arresting someone for being pro-palestine is a violation of the first amendment
-violating someone’s first amendment rights is bad

Sapiens piece about the importance of advocacy and activism in forensic anthropology out today with @drarielgr.bsky.social, Ashley Smith, and Donovan Adams! While written largely before the current attacks on science, it's (sadly) timely.

Seriously? Bringing a bunch of people he fired to listen to him in person? That’s cruel. What’s your strategy, he’ll see them and suddenly feel…? The proper protest is to not go. He hates not having attention. Go home and hold town halls.

Hey! I am happy to report that I was elected the next Chair of AAAS Section H - Anthropology 🎉
Wasn't going to post about this but it turns out I am running for AAAS Section H president right now - and I hope I get the chance to advocate in this space. It's a very scary moment - time to step up.
🧵: I am getting texts on what scientists should do in this perilous and scary moment. My advice: your biggest power is to organize through your professional societies. A few ideas -
