My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

Trading American's access to healthcare for a pat on the head & a pinky promise isn't "taking action to protect healthcare for tens of millions of Americans" no matter how much these 8 senators shout these empty words.

I am PROUD of the MAJORITY of Democratic U.S. Senators including my CA Senators Alex Padilla & Adam Schiff that voted to hold the line against Trump/GOP’s gutting of Americans’ health care! I BLAME Trump/GOP’s cruel government shutdown & their billionaire agenda that would NEVER fund health care!!!

As I said last night on MSNBC as the news broke that eight Senate Democrats were joining the GOP: This must be the end for Chuck Schumer as Senate Democratic leader.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

There are cases like this happening every day. Trump is the most pro-criminal president in history - if you are wealthy and have connections. Spare us the “Law and Order” bs.

None of the Dem Senators (or Democratic-caucusing) who voted yes on the CR are worried about reelection:

• Dick Durbin – IL – Retiring 2026

• Catherine Cortez Masto – NV – Up 2028

• Jacky Rosen – NV – Up 2030

• John Fetterman – PA – Up 2028

• Maggie Hassan – NH – Up 2028

Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You've changed the story from "GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who's destroying his party" to "Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump's strength to take a stand and protect Americans"

Anyone who believes that the Senators who voted for the non-deal did so without Schumer’s consent while he votes no for show is gullible & naive. You either do this with a plan and exit strategy or you don’t do it at all. There is a disconnect between Dem voters & Sen leadership.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.
