Fanfiction doesn’t exist to be “good” it exists because something went horribly wrong with you while you were watching a tv show and you’re gripped by madness

Next time somebody tries to get me to justify the existence of the humanities, I’ll just point out how for the past two Super Bowls we’ve all jumped online and engaged in collective semiotics and hermeneutics of the half-time show as text.

heads up to the american news media: I do not care what racists thought of the super bowl halftime show

But also, very excited about the building "Are Green Day sellouts?" conversation, which is brand new debate that has most definitely not been occurring every few years for my entire life. It's probably how I learned the word "sellout."

idk how to explain this to you, person whose bad take I just unwillingly read, but when you're playing for a huge crowd that is not there to see you in particular, deep cuts are not the way

Lynn Swann, Dan Marino and Tom Brady up on that stage with Green Day grinning like fools without even the slightest bit of cognizance that they are the American Idiots the song is about.

I hate every single person who is at that game and experiencing weather that is above zero

I really wasn't ready for them pointing out the 60s were 60 years ago.

Had a few moments there where I thought I was going to miss Green Day because I was going to be sitting in the McDonald's "wait here" spot until I died.

There's an angle on Loretta Swit in the White Gold episode where she looks exactly like Elizabeth Montgomery

Writing before bed: I'm on a roll and being creative and this is good.
Reading it back the next day: This is so embarrassing I don't ever want it to see the light of day.

The athletes calling for a better America — or even saying they represent the best aims of America — are more truly patriotic than JD Vance could ever claim to be.

Relatedly, I was watching Billie Joe sub Stephen Miller's name into Holiday the other day and YouTube helpfully gave me a 2020/2021 video (not sure which, but early pandemic era when there were no people at the games) of Green Day performing for the NFL and they did Holiday

Not so much a fashion statement as a weather statement. (It is -5F without the windchill.)

There are no words for how much I am annoyed by the annual "here is how we're keeping the Super Bowl safe" news segment.

Relatedly, it's 20 years later now, so it is time to genderswap that old man right into menopause and wake him up in a puddle of sweat.
Going through a lot of bandfic recs, noticing all the genderswap, and thinking, you know, there should really be a sort of subgenre where the guy wakes up genderswapped and with his period. Because periods are hateful enough to do that to you.
