The best, most stunning film I’ve seen so far this year. I’m floored. Trying to gather my thoughts but I’ll have a review coming soon!

This is a lovely and beautiful review of FRANKENSTEIN. “Frankenstein is a masterwork of gothic beauty and despair. It’s a creation worthy of its creator.”

I’m enjoying DOWN CEMETERY ROAD with Ruth Wilson whose character gets caught up in a government conspiracy & drags Emma Thompson’s punk private detective down with her. Both are great but I love Thompson’s tough as nails character who slowly begins to show cracks of vulnerability.

SENTIMENTAL VALUE captures aching silences, fractured families, memory as balm & burden. Reinsve is devastating as Nora: an actress on stage, a daughter under the weight of pain & legacy. About how art, regret, and the cracks in a home echo across years. #FilmSky www.peliplat.com/en/article/1...

Del Toro’s adaptation is not only one of the most faithful to Shelley’s text, but also one of the most emotionally devastating retellings ever to grace the screen. My review of FRANKENSTEIN: www.peliplat.com/en/article/1... #FilmSky
'Frankenstein' Review: Guillermo del Toro’s Modern Prometheus | Peliplat

I’m just saying, I directed a movie for basically no money that debuted in the 90s on rotten tomatoes and got distribution with no stars attached, I did not get a single call and couldn’t even find a rep as a director. This was not the case for any of the male directors I went to AFI with.
She's absolutely right. As a producer with several films in development with female directors, I can say it is an absolute uphill battle to get execs to fund their projects. Great scripts are sitting on shelves while a generation of our most talented women sit idle.

I really enjoyed HEDDA. In DaCosta’s hands, it’s a masterful play of tension and manipulation. It’s an intoxicating and intelligent reimagining of the old text. Sumptuous in direction, dazzling in design, delicious in performance. My review: www.peliplat.com/en/article/1... #FilmSky

There is no better filmmaker to capture FRANKENSTEIN than Del Toro. He brings the novel to life as intricately as the Doctor his Creature, rendered in gothic decadence & melancholy. Elordi is incredible: human, heartbreaking, beautiful. A masterful adaptation of empathy & horror. #FilmSky

It’s interesting how BRING HER BACK subtly ties to TALK TO ME. Their worlds feel hauntingly connected. Both films are steeped in grief and the desperate urge to undo loss with each blurring the line between life and death through something dark and supernatural. Loved it!
