I’m enjoying DOWN CEMETERY ROAD with Ruth Wilson whose character gets caught up in a government conspiracy & drags Emma Thompson’s punk private detective down with her. Both are great but I love Thompson’s tough as nails character who slowly begins to show cracks of vulnerability.

There is no better filmmaker to capture FRANKENSTEIN than Del Toro. He brings the novel to life as intricately as the Doctor his Creature, rendered in gothic decadence & melancholy. Elordi is incredible: human, heartbreaking, beautiful. A masterful adaptation of empathy & horror. #FilmSky

Rewatched CORALINE & one of my favourite parts is the predator vs prey symbolism. The use of the shapeshifting “Beldam” of folklore is clever as she spins beauty like a web to lure her prey. But Coraline with her dragonfly instinct turns the tables. A perfect tale of deception, survival & power.

Finally done reading this bad boy. Only took me 5 months because I read one chapter and have to take a nap!

IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT is a wrenching, morally tangled thriller where the urge for revenge ends in a dusty, desperate web of doubt. The tension builds in long takes & wide shots that trap you in the weight of memory & trauma. It has one of year’s best, chilling final scenes. #FilmSky

NO OTHER CHOICE is a screwball, blackly hilarious satire from Park Chan-wook that slices like a paper cut. Lee Byung-hun gives a Chaplin-worthy performance in this bleak, absurd, dazzling comedy of errors about being chewed up by capitalism. No one works a camera like Park. #FilmSky
