Hey guys, if you’re not too busy this weekend, maybe it might be a good time to go see a movie. Just a thought. I heard there is something good playing.

I also own that movie!

Now seated for TRON: ARES in real IMAX. 🤩

The final & 6th film of my marathon was SMILE 2 (2024). This is a modern horror masterpiece absolutely firing on all cylinders from the opening oner to the insane ending. Parker Finn is the real deal and Naomi Scott delivers an unforgettable, emotionally complex, absolutely unhinged performance.

Shout has this on sale on gorgeous blu. Only 24 copies left. You should probably buy it. It looks incredible shoutfactory.com/products/hel...

Movie #5 of my fest was HELLIONS (2015). This underseen Halloween night gem is directed by Bruce McDonald of PONTYPOOL fame. I was lukewarm the 1st time I saw it but now love it. The imagery/score/color/production are undeniable. Surreal fairy tale vibes abound. Chloe Rose is an outstanding lead. 🤘

The other films I programmed (for myself) today were much better.

He could not hit for the Sox. Figures that he leaves and does well.

Yes I think what I watched was a prequel to Tom Hardy’s VENOM. 😆

4th film of my horror fest was VENOM (2005). This is an EXTREMELY 2005 Bayou slasher with franchise aspirations. But I believe it was a one and done. The snake VFX was distracting and a lot of characters were awful. But the last act was kind of solid.

3rd film of my horror fest was BODY PARTS (1991) which is an early 90’s heater. I feel like I had seen it before but it has been a while. Super fun with elements of body horror and slashers. Not enough Remo Lacey.

2nd film of my horror fest was HELL NIGHT (1981). First watch. A really fun 80’s Halloween night slasher with a great cast, Linda Blair and co, set in a gothic mansion. Great production design. Justice for Seth.

Programming my own horror fest. 1st was VAMPYRES (1974). Rewatch. Thanks @elrickane.bsky.social for the reminder as this is a great opener to a marathon. Dripping with atmosphere, wine, and blood. This is my kind of horror. Love the two not-so-dead girls. Also, don’t camp near a creepy mansion.

Gonna do a mini spooky movie marathon at home tomorrow. I’m stoked. Got some ideas from @purecinemapod.bsky.social.

Ever since he left the Sox he could hit. South Side is cursed.

SINISTER is a great spooky season watch. Love that Boards of Canada needle drop. Great atmosphere. Disturbing super 8 reels. Hawke rockin a cardigan. And it was made by cool people. What else do you need?

It’s finally here! Check out the full music video for our band Oogladaar’s hit song “Just Another Piece in a Puzzle”! Crazy how we’re number one on every chart! Still can’t believe we knocked Taylor off her number 1 spot. The power of independent art, am I right? youtu.be/_TkGnWv20A4

My thoughts on One Battle After Another, how Paul Thomas Anderson grapples with the revolutionary impotence of his generation, the social and racial dynamics of change-makers, and bucking the trend of avoiding confrontation with the source of America’s inequalities.

Settle in.
With ‘One Battle After Another,’ Paul Thomas Anderson Captures the Shortcomings of His Generation
Though Leonardo DiCaprio's Bob, Anderson explores limits and frustrations of a revolutionary in an America where the disenfranchisement of Black and Latino populations has grown beyond his generation'...
