I bet ChatGPT wrote it, and then some human copied and pasted it into a doc and then sent it to and editor who dumped it into ChatGPT, and then everyone said, “Huzzah for productivity.”

There was a big jump in scams after self-publishing took off, but it feels like it’s so much worse now. People publishing AI-written books on Amazon under well-known authors’ names, marketing scammers, and now this. Ugh.

I’ve always had good experiences with my clients, but I’m pretty horrified by how many scams have started dogging our industry over the last year or so.

There are other reasons you might need to hold back (finances are a big one) but sometimes you just have to close your eyes and jump.

I’m feeling it myself—I’ve always preferred reading paper books and playing with real paint, but lately I’ve been craving art that’s messy and obviously human, mistakes and all.

In many cases, “scaling” is just a few people making a lot more money from people receiving a lesser product while the people making more money do a lot less work.
