I’d forgotten how hard it is to read for pleasure while in school. So much mandatory reading and writing for school AND work makes it difficult to sit down with a book for fun—and focus. But I found this book at @gooddogbooks.bsky.social the other day and it seems to have broken the curse.

Questionable decision? Perhaps. Still avoiding US-based purchases? In general. Wanting to support queer Americans? 100%. Still, do I need a Baba Yaga necklace? Nope. Do I have regrets? Not yet.

In other news, I had the enormous honour of meeting Siyabulela Mandela today. I’m old enough to remember when apartheid was stamped out and Nelson Mandela was released from prison and so it was amazing to be able to chat with his great-grandson. Feeling pretty fortunate tonight.
