So one of the things I did on vacation was visit the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts and one display made me go--wait! I know her! So here's an installation made of recycled book covers featuring @maggietokudahall.bsky.social's Love in the Library. Anyone recognize any of the other covers?

I spent Halloween on a cruise ship, which was strange! (Everyone was Waldo. Don't be Waldo if you're on a cruise ship full of retirees.) And I renewed my vows to a very tall, handsome man after 25 years! And then re-wore the $30 thrift store wedding dress (WITH POCKETS) on Halloween. As one does.

Heard from Harlequin--a month after asking for clarification--I was told they would be handling *all* of our dropped copyrights on a "case-by-case" issue. Here's my reply and I hope we all stick together as we press for compensation. @suzbrockmann.bsky.social

Hi Cadence, Thanks for you reply and I appreciate that Harlequin is going to file copyright on those remaining books. However, I fail to see the logic of waiting and seeing and approaching the lack of action on your behalf to a "case-by-case" basis. This was not just a Harlequin-wide failure but an industry-wide failure. It's not like you only neglected a few (A few! Nine!) of my titles as a one-off. This was a systemic, company-wide, industry-wide failing that is going to cost me $20,500 for 9 books worth of settlement monies. I know some authors who only had 3 books without a filed copyright, but that's still $9K of incredibly useful money at a time when everything is more expensive and it doesn't even begin to address authors like Suzanne Brockman who, at last count, is out something like $160k. This is not a case-by-case situation and it's insulting to think that you are hoping you can maybe settle something with the "squeaky wheels" in hopes that we won't talk to each other about this. Everyone knows that McMillan/Tor is offering to make their authors whole, upfront, no wishy-washy language. Alt text cont. in next slide. Alt text continued from previous slide: Harlequin has had over a month to come up with a plan. I emailed Miranda and the Concierge Team on Sept. 9 and yet the best you have to offer is, "wait and see" approach that leaves a bunch of very upset authors with a lot more questions than answers. Our works were stolen. I don't know if you (the collective you representing Harlequin, not you personally) appreciate how angry authors (as well as artists and all creatives) are that we were stripped of our rights and our ability to make money from our works. We have a chance, thanks to this settlement, to make some money back from that. Due to negligence or incompetence, Harlequin (and nearly every other publisher out there) has made this much more difficult, and you think a "case-by-case" approach is going to work? This whole situation was discovered because of a class-action lawsuit. Class-action directly implies a large group. Harlequin needs to be thinking collectively, because I sure am. Again, thank you for filing the belated copyrights. I most sincerely hope that is not the least Harlequin plans on doing.

Finally, I give unto you the last primrose of the season (at least, I think it's primrose. I've been wrong before, but don't tell the Mr!). Most of these enormous bushes of lovely yellow flowers have dropped their blooms, but a few in the shade have held on.

Just like you're gonna hold on, ok?
A perfectly perfect yellow flower with four petals curling into itself with a few others in various stages of blooming around it, on top of nice pointed green leaves, with a mulched background. These grow in huge bushes and are extremely popular with the bees.

Now these asiatic lilies are over four feet tall, the most vivid orange in my garden, and a big hit with the moths! They live under an oak tree, against a fence, so they don't get blown around too much. They like it there and it shows!!

Hey, #bloomscrolling readers, did you know that Easter lilies are just...lilies? And you can plant them in the ground after Easter? And they'll keep blooming year after year? You can call them trumpet lilies, because they bloom in June, not at Easter, but hey! LILIES!!!
A huge snow-white trumpet lily in radiant bloom with shockingly yellow stamen and pollen that will absolutely turn your dog yellow in surprising ways. Several other trumpet lily heads in various states of bloom are around it. The background is cedar mulch and other greenery.

Our next #bloomscrolling candidate is...this gorgeous soft buttery yellow daylily! You'll note she's growing in the MIDDLE of the unnamed purple thing, because that is exactly how my garden grows. Out of control sometimes. Things grow where they grow and if they're pretty, that's where they stay!
Tucked in the round green leaves and purple flowers of the unnamed plant from the above post is a butter-yellow daylily with spiky green long leaves. There’s also a bit of cedar mulch here and there.

Please pour one out for Miss Maggie Moo, the extremely large, surprisingly feisty orange tabby of my mom's cat that I've been caring of for the last 6+ years. Born to a feral momma who adopted my Dad, she was always a housecat at heart. Her time grows short at 16 3/4 years.
a 24.7 lb orange cat that was so against taking her med that it took two people and a green towel used as a neck brace to hold her still enough to get a pill in her. Both vet tech and vet are white, everyone is crouching on a white floor. Maggie Moo, an enormous orange tabby, back home after an overnight hospital stay. She's looking alert and cute on a brick walkway, with a few patches of unmelted snow around her. This was in March-ish. One of her legs was shaved, but otherwise she's very fluffy.
