Figuring out KiCAD a bit better now, updated lightning detector PCB. Now with a JST-PH 3-pin connector.

This is kinda fun. #embedded shenanigans. Maybe I should place an order for these.

I can't quite figure out KiCAD (I need to practice more), but LibrePCB got me covered. A little lightning detector sensor, let's gooooo

Aight, time to learn some KiCAD, so I can make more lightning sensors, because that's what this world needs more of.

Yes.

I also believe that eventually, survivors will understand that in a finite world, the only way to live safely is to limit the powers of individuals and small groups to a safe level.

Including economic power.
Despite a clear authoritarian slide, democracy will prevail!

There's iocaine if you want to start discouraging AI scrapers. I also wrote my own tarpit with the intent of being a bit more malicious to misbehaving bots. Less capable than iocaine, but it was a fun project. Very efficient at least:

LLMs promised to *increase* knowledge. What actually happens is the opposite. We cannot trust any information any more. Our beliefs become harder to justify & truth harder to establish. So we end up with LLMs destroying trust in knowledge - a serious threat to modern society & the good life.
This Maccabi Tel Aviv/policing/AI story is wild!

Often it’s not the use of AI, per se, that’s the problem.

It’s the uncritical acceptance of the stuff it churns out.

YOU HAVE TO FACT CHECK AGAINST ORIGINAL SOURCES.

Gods, I love coffee. I spend way too much on good quality beans, but it is too good.

Shame I value my sleep because otherwise I would drink it a lot more.

Rust couldn't save me from spinlocking one of my pico's cores, because I forgot to close the tcp socket after the remote disconnected, and then the tcp accept went into a failure loop.

Oopsie~

Software engineers: We must write faster, more efficient software!

Also software engineers: My coding assistant needs 3 whole datacenters, a nuclear reactor and a whole diverted river to help me write code that was scraped from Stack Overflow.

I love Rust. I love how safe Rust is so cozy, but then I slap down unsafe and begin writing the most cursed shit imaginable that not even C would allow, and you cannot stop me!

Seriously though remember when interface designers actually made things that felt fun rather than being bland and soulless?

The aesthetics of software have been getting worse and worse for years.
Okay but I'd totally put money an arcade cabinet that lets you spend time fucking around with a 2009 mac full of games and productivity software of the era.

I keep noticing on the AI discourse is the focus on productivity. I need to get writing a post on this specifically, because on this topic, ever since a RustFest 2019 talk, I have been radicalised on this.

Why must we get faster? Why do we keep burning ourselves out and for what exactly?
