Today, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding the 1st of two meetings on its four proposals for the future of I-794.

I remain deeply disappointed that these are the only options presented to us by DOT.

Republicans cutting of SNAP benefits has nothing to do with the government shutdown and everything to do with cruelty. Intentional cruelty to the 1 in 4 residents of Milwaukee county who rely on foodshare to feed their families.

26 states are suing the USDA and the Trump administration to do what they are legally required to do—fund SNAP. They have the authority, they have the ability, and they have the money. Letting families go hungry is a Donald Trump choice and it’s not even one that follows the law.

State violence is still violence. It is, arguably, one of the most dangerous kinds.

We cannot have a free society if the government can detain, demean, and deport people at its whim. Full stop.

The Trump Administration hates the 1st Amendment, hates freedom of expression, and hates the very act of journalism. They're scared of transparency -- which is all the more reason we need it.
