The end of an era. I've had this chair for about 20 years. I've spent a significant amount of my life in it, writing over a million words and communicating with fascinating people around the world (it's seen a fair few photos of other people's cats too...).

Where has this book been all my life?! A circular epic where levels of detail are added with each pass. Characters so real that I miss them desperately. And how the fuck have I fallen in love with a mule called Achilles?

#FirstBirdOfMyDay is a huge swan ambling into the garden. It should be a delight but it seems very unhappy. It's found it's reflection in a pane of glass and doesn't seem to want to leave it. I hope it hasn't just lost it's mate. It's also the biggest swan I remember seeing.

It's an awful photo but I'm all dressed up to paint fences etc in the garden but this kingfisher has just arrived.

Our crab apple tree has suddenly started leaning to the right. There has been no grumbling about net zero or EVs yet. I presume that only happens when it reaches the far right.

Two separate visits from our local badgers. Anyone have any idea what food they are after? It's been filled with shop-bought compost and they don't appear to be eating the bulbs. Our garden soil has far more worms and little beasties than this compost. 🌿

Either one of our squirrels thinks we're due a really cold winter, or she hasn't been reading the books that claim squirrels give birth in the spring...

People joke that you get a longer sentence with marriage than you do for murder. After 26 years of marriage my wife and I ended up at Alcotraz prison cocktail bar in Brighton. Where you smuggle in booze that get turned into cocktails. It was fab and I did my first chicken singing in public! 🐔🤣

In Siren Island an introverted guy finds himself one of very few men on an eco-holiday on a tropical island run by beautiful women. I'm really surprised by how many men have described this as a scary or intimidating situation. amzn.to/3ZLAnq3 💙📚
