The Home Secretary explaining that the rise in racist violence is, actually, the natural response to higher levels of immigration is a state of affairs that can't exist without the government having largely decided that racist violence is, if not legitimate, at least understandable.

I was talking to a friend who works in the social sector in Germany and she said that the situation is increasingly dire in some parts of the country - they cannot recruit medical staff to work in some towns because, idyllic as they are with great infrastructure, 30%+ of them vote for the far-right.
