1) This is blatantly unconstitutional
2) Withholding funding from which judicial appointments? Provincial? Because federally-appointed judges get paid from the federal budget. That's why new judicial spots end up in federal budget bills
3) Withholding any funding will make the justice system worse
Danielle Smith wrote to Mark Carney demanding her say in the appointment of federal judges...

And also threatening that if she doesn't get a say, she will withhold funding for new judicial appointments.

Because crime and justice or something.

To be clear: The Online News Act was not about paying for links.
It was about Google and Facebook using their monopoly power to consolidate the online advertising market for their own ends, and being made to compensate news organizations who were impacted by the loss of that advertising. #PnPCBC

Today, we remember the more than six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions of others murdered by the Nazi regime. As survivors grow fewer, our responsibility to remember and our resolve to act grows stronger. (1/3)

With climate change, changing international supply chains, and other global adjustments, this seems short sighted. Cuts to science have lead to long term consequences.

Or, Heated Rivalry only exists because of CanCon requirements. Otherwise CTV/Bell/Crave would have just imported another American show.

It seems prudent to seek a ruling from the SCC on this. Go through the full process now and set the precedent for the future.
@djclimenhaga.bsky.social: Notwithstanding Friday’s Federal Court of Appeal ruling that Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act to end the convoy Ottawa occupation in 2022 was unreasonable, the most appropriate place for this matter to be settled once and for all remains the Supreme Court of Canada.

The cynic in me thinks it’s all about money and wanting to avoid the additional cost of providing upgraded PPE to our healthcare staff. I think they avoid acknowledging the risk of aerosol transmission so employers won’t be forced to upgrade ventilation and filtration.

Maybe they don’t want respirator masks in hospitals because patients suffering heart attacks, strokes, cancer, kidney failure etc might ask why people are wearing masks.
And someone might tell them.
And they’d figure out why they’re sick.
And they’d realise they’d been lied to.

THE PLAN: We pick one town on the other side of the border, and flood it with kindness.

Watch the video, and let's try to reverse some of the damage. Even just a fraction. #JustOneTown
