Migrated from the hell hole and found it much better for my mental health here. I live a quiet retired life in rural Suffolk, UK with Himself who is finally working part-time in the wind down to retirement, 12 yr old arthritic dog, 2 cats and 6 chickens.
Been out in it again today. Took OH to town but he walked back while I was at the gym. It was lovely to drive back by myself and not have him saying I'm going too fast and am too near the kerb etc. I've been driving for 42 years but you'd think I'd just passed my test!

Our Minnie is the same. She's such a scaredy cat and retreats to the garden until the invaders have gone. She even hates the door to the boot room where their access point is and freedom beyond being closed now the weather is much colder. I'm convinced she's claustrophobic as well.

Beulah, from Suffolk born and bred, also has a keen eye for cheese and biscuits which she demands her daddy shares with her. Same goes for yoghurt, croissants in fact anything edible. Sometimes the boy cat joins in too which she's not best pleased with!

My dog was like this when her evening carrot (that she has to have as her pudding when we have ours after dinner) disappeared under her bed. I got all sorts of accusing looks because I hadn't given it to her and why not it wasn't fair 😅 And the dog trainer said she's very intelligent!

My dog is the best in the world. She may be 12 and a half with arthritic legs that don't let her fly like the wind anymore but she still loves her life and is the best companion ever. She loves our two cats and they her but woe betide they try to get more treats than her!

Cats in winter most of day sleeping positions. Zack on left, Minnie on the right. What a life!

Depends which one you have. Didn't they give you a leaflet when you had flu jab? This is the relevant page. Our surgery gives Shingrix so we have the second dose 6 months after the first. They should tell you when you go which you're having but if they don't ask.

Morning from my lot (though sadly since the photo was taken I've lost my lovely Helga hen (white one).

In a word ZACK! He loves catching them and bringing them in if we don't get there and stop him. He likes to play with them and they manage to get away and head for cover. He loses interest and wanders off 😠

I always fancied being the moody cool girl singer fronting an otherwise male group. Like this lot. Strong female role models all for my generation.

Call that colourful? I see your injury and raise you mine when the dog tripped me up and I fell down the stairs! When I went to the doc he took one look at it and said "well you've really buggered that". Such a great technical term 😅 Seriously I hope yours gets better soon. Mine took a good 2 years!

Hair sounds lovely. I've been adding lighter shades in so the grey is more camouflaged 😅 photo below is how bothered the cats are by the mouse one of them (probably Zack as Minnie kills hers) ie not the least bit!

Anything to oblige Kate.

Doesn't take long to write this like Janey did long ago. Or just print it off on the computer and hold it up! Good luck on the march. I'm a bit too far away to join in and health not up to it nowadays but am there in spirit.

In honour of the Orange Felon's visit. Posting as Janey is no longer here to do it.

Oh yes I remember it well 🤣

Very wise words George. As usual. Good friends enrich our lives in so many ways. Being a wise cat can you explain why my very dim cat keeps flicking his tail out in his sleep. He's looked at it accusingly for a bit like it doesn't belong to him 🤣

I have a Zack sleeping on the bed. Every so often he flicks his tail out. No idea why. He's purring away. A very odd cat 🤣 And he's left a mouse running around downstairs since yesterday 😔

We've given in and lit the log burner 🔥

Morning. Looks like rain is forecast here with even the occasional rumble of thunder. Good job the wood chips turned up yesterday. Now all I've got to do is decant into the wheelbarrow and spread in the chicken run over many trips! Oh well at least it'll give me something to do 😜. Have a good day.
September 10, 2025 at 5:49 AM
Oh it's definitely more stressful for me. I start stressing from the time I get the reminder it's time to book their appointment! They only start stressing from the hour and a half they're kept in for 😅 Though at the moment Minnie isn't stressing at all as she's on the sofa purring. And Zack is too.
August 18, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Poor you. Hope it's a quick day. Don't think these two will be wanting to do much today. Zack and dog sister Beulah are mirroring each other in sleep. And Minnie was on my legs till I moved to take the photo!

And look Hettie I saw a balloon up for you this morning over the fields behind us as I walked back with the dog.
August 10, 2025 at 8:01 AM
It certainly is. Heaven for dogs too. This is just behind our garden. And we have a field too. And a barn! And all for the price of our house in Herts. Wouldn't go back there at all.
