Migrated from the hell hole and found it much better for my mental health here. I live a quiet retired life in rural Suffolk, UK with Himself who is finally working part-time in the wind down to retirement, 12 yr old arthritic dog, 2 cats and 6 chickens.
And me!

Regarding the Gill (and potential others) Russian bribery case..

A person in a very senior role at the European Parliament has told me the UK authorities have not contacted the Parliament to ask for information, records etc.

As both a former Crown Prosecutor and former MEP, I'm surprised by that.

Minister defends 'pragmatic' U-turn on workers' rights.

It was a manifesto pledge

Why no 'pragmatic' U-turn' on nationalising water, energy, rail rolling stock companies and freight; ending privatisation of the NHS and social care; taxing the super rich?

Bridget Phillipson told the BBC the climbdown would enable wider benefits to be delivered quickly.

#totp That's me out. Can't stand Robson and Jerome. Hated them at the time and not changed my opinion.

#totp Did Take That really look like that? They look far too young and Gary is slim 😱

#totp This Billy Ocean song is played to death on Greatest Hits. It'd be nice to hear one of his other songs. If I could even remember any!

Some gorgeous cats here needing a forever home. Our beautiful, silly Selkie and Phoenix are Holly's Merry Moggies alumnae. Maybe you, or someone you know, can find a home for one of these beauties.
I've just updated the available cats page, we have some REALLY special kitties in and some of them have been waiting ages. Their forever home might be on your timeline, please share? 🥰

After hearing 50,000 times that we should put the available cats on the website, we’ve made a page! Hooray! However, it is still just me doing most of the work in the shelter. So there’…

‘Speaking outside his chateau in France, former Brexit Party and UKIP MEP Coburn answered "no" when a BBC journalist asked him whether he had ever been paid to give a speech to promote pro-Russian campaigners.’

Great work from @BBCWales. Keep going

I'm not sure how many times I swore out loud reading this. The result of years of chronic underfunding: notably nothing to do with juries.
Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

More often than not, speed doesn't matter. So your neighbours have already brought out the Xmas lights? The ironing needs done, or the cupboard dusted? Life's no competition or race. It's fine to just get there. You do you. Your life, your time, your schedule.

A good summary of what the budget means to us in 10 minutes. Easier to understand than listening to it in Parliament with the lame duck jokes and childish jeering.

This is so sweet. Remind me of when our two were kittens and I'd worry that my big dog would hurt them. She adored them and they her.
Really enjoying the sequel to The Bodyguard

In 2021 Good Law Project went for an Orwell Prize for uncovering the Covid PPE VIP lane - an issue which helped bring down the last Government. We didn't even get shortlisted - one of the judges was a Director General under the last Government working on... the Covid response. 😂

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Britain is one of the world’s richest countries. Why do a third of children live in poverty?

It is a political choice - years of austerity, real wage cuts, regressive taxation, unchecked profiteering, disappearance of social housing, hijacking of govts by corporations/rich.
