I like to talk about Japanese role playing games, magical girls, giant robots, tokusatsu, ducks and girls with big hats.
I don't know what that is but I will trust your judgement

I think the juxtaposition of ancient magic and modern magic is a really interesting set up and I hope the game will do something with it instead of just having it be a lore thing you read about.

The game told me to go to the library to read up on DioField's history, and christ it really is an actual library with how many lore books there.

I switched to hard earlier because the standard enemies felt too easy, but then the two Gigas appeared and they were a real pain the ass.

I've got the slowdown removal mod on the game already, but I might play it emulated anyway because my PSP is in a bad condition and PPSSPP is a pretty handy software.

I went into it with very low expectations but so far I've been having a pretty good time. But yeah, the name is pretty funny even after I understood what it actually means.

The music's pretty nice though. There's nothing that stands out as something I'd listen to outside of the game, but it's all very pleasant to listen to during gameplay.

Was curious who composed DioField since it doesn't sound like the style of any composers I recognise

The composers are Brandon Campbell and Ramin Djawadi, who also did Game of Thrones. Definitely did not expect that from a low budget game nobody played.

I've heard rumors of that

DioField doesn't have perma death but every mission (so far at least) has had "don't let any ally die" as a side objective, and while it's not quite as exciting as perma death, it is a pretty good casual alternative since it still encourages you to play cautiously.

That depends, should I buy Ivalice Chronicle or should I just play WotL since I already own it?

I completely forgot this existed. Was always curious about it but since 3DS was region locked I never bothered getting it.

I might do that. I thought normal would be good due to my inexperience, but if it keeps being too easy I might want the extra challenge

What if they did make Atelier Tactics?
November 30, 2025 at 2:43 PM
Yeah, I can't argue against that assessment tbh

Actually once I've beaten Masou Kishin and DioField (assuming I don't beat anything else between them) half of the games I've beaten this year have been strategy RPGs.

I haven't. I bought it some time ago but just kinda forgot about it (maybe I should add it to my next "what should I play?" post)

I tend to get very overwhelmed by RTS games but so far every stage has been pretty small and you only control 4 characters so it feels very easy to manage.

I can see how someone more experienced with RTS games wouldn't like that but as a casual player I appreciate the simplicity.

I went into it without any expectations but I've been pretty pleasantly surprised. Nothing amazing so far, but I am enjoying it
