本土最東端の根室市と隣接する別海町にまたがる風蓮湖(ふうれん-)。海とつながる汽水湖で野鳥や自然に富み、ラムサール条約登録地。
これは渡りの白鳥を描く作品。切り絵のようにシンプルで抽象化されたデザインが美しい。全長60cm。

1, 根室、風蓮湖のペナント。黒い布にイラストをプリント。旗の左に橙色のリボン2本付き。 2, イラストは風蓮湖の白鳥。 3, イラストの拡大。湖を表す青い不定形の楕円と緊張感のある白鳥の線、切り絵のようにシンプルだが洗練された面と線の構成。白鳥は地上に立って首を巡らせる1羽とそれぞれ別方向に飛翔する2羽、ダイナミックな描写である。また、羽毛と足の描き分けなど精妙の印象。キャプションは和文、”風蓮湖の白鳥” (金粉) 。サインは、丸に "完" の字 (金粉)だが、残念ながら作者名は不詳。 4, タイトルは和文。ナイーブにアレンジされた漢字で ”根室” (金粉) 。
