That's not a compromise. There is no compromise position lurking somewhere between "treat trans people as full and equal members of society" and "treat trans people as second-class citizens". Labour have chosen the latter option.

This is exactly how you defeat the bigots. The Scottish Greens abandoned multiple single-gender selection lists in favour of single all-gender internal elections.
Even if they didn't want to fight the court case, they could just make entry open to anyone. Allow a handful of cis boys to join and if anyone is unhappy blame the transphobes.
