This is a fantastic article with a lot of simple explanations in it of everyday counterintuitive bullshit, just as you’d expect from Cory Doctorow.

Yeah AI is a bubble. But what sort of bubble? Who puffed it up? And what do we do?

Neat! Reminded when I visited Star Trek: The Experience at the Hilton in Las Vegas back in '98. I was over the moon roaming the corridors and walking around the bridge. Also, I did not realize that the bridge of the Enterprise-D had so many turbolifts. #sttng #startrek

Finally got my Android phone (Samsung S24 Ultra) to work with Android Auto in the car. Had to clear cache and data in the car's AA settings. #androidauto

I like gingersnaps after they've gone a little stale/chewy. You can speed up the process by storing your crispies in a container with a slice of bread. #nowyouknow

Our total $ spending on Costco Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels necessitates a separate budget line item for 2026. Yes, they are that good.

So wait. You mean I can mix in unflavored whey protein and have protein-packed mashed potatoes that still taste like mashed potatoes? #lifehack

Three evenings ago I read an article about using ice packs on the forehead to help beat insomnia. The original study was from 2011 IIRC. Apparently if you drop the temperature of your frontal lobe by a degree or so you trigger a cascade of sleepy time metabolic events.

This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

In Stowe, Vermont last month. The view is near the top of Mt Mansfield. Richard in the background for...scale? We took the gondola up to the Cliff House Restaurant for lunch and then rock-/boulder-climbed the rest of the way. The climb kicked our butts!

Today's gin review. Gin is consumed in martini form, shaken, bone/extra/desert dry (no vermouth), with a lemon twist.
Gin Mare - very nice, a tiny bit sweet, reminds me of Fords London Dry.
Slingsby Rhubarb Gin - sweet with strong rhubarby? notes, very nice but probably would not want more than one.
