Probably the worst of them all is the Ring doorbell.

It’s sold as safety, but it’s much more about fear and paranoia in a box that turns you against your community. The more of them in the world, the worse our neighborhoods get. Don’t help the spiral continue.

The problem isn’t just historic inequality and how it creates imbalanced systems or destroys capitalism through contradictions. It’s also what intentional precarity as a weapon does to people mentally and emotionally.

The people who choose to spend their lives in an idealistic pursuit of knowledge--and the social mission of disseminating it--will fight for those ideals. The assdeans in suits, appointed by a board of ex-CEOs and lawyers who were appointed by centrist democrats and republican fascists, will not.

We eventually won a complaint against the accreditor with the US Dept of Ed and the accreditor had to undergo major reforms. We got our full accreditation restored a few years later. The institution survived thanks to the faculty union. Still recovering from years of trauma, but we exist!

The institutions aren’t nimble or responsive enough to save themselves. In 2011 City College of San Francisco (appx 100k students at the time) was almost shut down by an accreditor gone rogue. My union, AFT 2121, organized everywhere & everyhow & eventually the City Attorney got a stay to keep open.
