Long ago, in the early days of trump’s second term, he met with putin and what was discussed wasn’t made public. Me and a few friends joked that they met to agree on splitting up the globe. Now it sort of looks like trump actually wants to invade South America.

It occurs to me, watching the White House get demolished, that we Americans are going to have to get used to the idea that the America of 1776 to 2024 is gone. We'll beat the fascists, because the arc of history and all that. But, the things that made up That America are gone. We'll have to rebuild.
