We can say both. We can say Republicans never cared about equal opportunity for minorities and women and that’s very consistent with fascism; we can also say that they’ve never been this openly hateful. Acknowledge the distinction between them and now, but also that it’s fairly small.

The first results in more affordable quality housing stock and only takes a few years; the second results in poorer people suffering habitability issues and takes decades, if ever. They’re very different, and the literature confuses lots of people into thinking that good filtering takes decades.
