Pulled off my copy of “GG Aleste II” for Game Gear as today’s #RandomGameSaturday pick.
As you’d expect from Compile in their prime, it utterly pushes the Game Gear hard, and is a tightly put together portable shmup.

After the gutenfucked day of "training", I finally get a reward.
Been looking forward to getting a proper play of DSD after trying the demo at PAX all those years back.
Congrats on the launch @mike.reuben.games & the team 😀

Games Group tonight had its yearly Decathlon - where members had to compete in 10 challenges based on 10 different games/genres/platforms.
Managed to win 3 of the events, and took home the silver! Kind of helped that some of the really skilled folks weren’t there this time 😉

Today's pick for #RandomGameSaturday is SimCity on C64! It wasn't the first version of it to see release, but was where the series' first steps begun (before being shelved for a while).
Which means it's pretty limited compared to many of the other versions of this City building classic.

Got some… not great news today, which has me feeling kinda worried.
But on the other hand, the 7800 Pole Position II vid has done way better than I thought.
It kind of stumps me as to why though, but I’m glad after the last few didn’t do so well.
Thx for the support on that front!

Today’s pick for #RandomGameSaturday is “Realms of Quest V” on Captain Kirk’s favourite 8-bit the VIC 20!
Considering the VIC’s limits, it’s no surprise it needs expansion RAM.
It’s also an impressive effort, especially considering the chunky visuals.
Nice to see the VIC get more involved games!

Even frogs like video games. My Grumpy Frog is giving good company while I’m playing [REDACTED] for review.
(Which I’ll have a write up for P2 next week…)

This is what my present circumstances have led me to. May whatever higher power you believe in have mercy on my, because my poor Mac is now poisoned by Teams.

Today’s pick for #RandomGameSaturday is “Fail Safe” on the Atari 7800.
Starting out as an unofficial sequel to 5200 exclusive “Countermeasure”, it’s been made official with Atari releasing it!
Take you tank and fight your way to the silos to stop an impending missile attack!

It doesn’t quite beat Hades II with its ability to pet the frog, but the opening to Lumo 2 has me HOWLING at the mysterious egg-like corpse in its opening room.
RIP Dizzy. You aren’t missed at all.

And done. Can’t say much more than how much I needed it, but also how much I’m lucky to have some friends who really (probably more than I said) meant a lot to help me feel a little more me, and a little less… hollow for the last few days.

A winner is me! Had one of my all-timer runs at River Raid, and took home the medal!
I could say that’s my weekend all done and dusted, at least for medal chasing. oh yes!

Best I throw my #RandomGameSaturday pick before leaving for the day.
Here's Demon Stalkers for C64 - Fire King's predecessor (I shared previously). What if Gauntlet with more story & level editing tools.
More interesting than C64 Gauntlet (despite jank) and a fine AU pick for celebrating MIGW! 😉

Feel like I'm manifesting the Bart giving the thumb up when he doesn't feel it kind of energy.
I'm excited for PAX, to see faces and (maybe?) win a medal over, but I feel like I've covered myself in duct tape to hold myself together - so apologies if feelings leak out I guess.

Spent the afternoon with the Atari 7800 up and grabbing footage for next vid.
Getting a start on this now (plus it’s a small one), because time is going to a bit patchy in the weeks post MIGW.
(Sadly not for good reasons…)

Having one of those "why didn't I think of this earlier" moments - and that's making a custom album in my photo library to highlight a few special things from this utter trashfire of a year.
Because sometimes, easily accessible memories of bright moments in a dark year can mean so darn much.

Went to my folios shelf for #RandomGameSaturday & grabbed "Racing Destruction Set" on C64.
Darn interesting one with loads of tracks & cars to mess with, alongside building your own tracks…
…and nightmarish loads if cursed to play off cassette.
(Also Rock n Roll Racing is a distant descendant…)

Surprisingly for #RandomGameSaturday, it’s something which arrived recently: P-47 II MD, a shmup which was scrapped back in the day, but finished off and made available to us now!
Took a fair bit longer to arrive, and only had a quick spin, but looking forward to more shipping with this!

Feeling some feelings tonight: went with games group to visit the arcade we occasionally visit for what’s basically the last time (as the person running that space is selling the machines off and moving on).
It’s always been nice to have a place Northside for this. If only to save on travel…

Spending a little time with this recent-ish conversion of Lock’n Chase to the C64.
It feels quite spot on - which is no surprise, as the C64 hardware is of the right vintage for this era of arcade game to get brought over well.

Was out all day, but home now so I can share a thing for #RandomGameSaturday!
Here’s Nemesis II (the Japanese version) for original Game Boy. An original entry in the series which works quite well for the limited GB hardware!
(And is on Switch Online’s catalogue too!)

Don't think this will change, so might as well throw up my MIGW25 plans.
Bummed I couldn't afford tix to GCAP, but it's just way too much for me and my current position.
Anyway, if any friendos want to catch up over coffee/drinks/snacks/etc, HMU!

Touching some grass and adventuring today whilst there’s a spot of nice weather.
Also feeling like I need to distract a bit, so Y’know with all of the things.
(Also waiting on things. Maybe. URGH.)
