Grumpy old man for life.
An impressive film in the way it keeps you guessing to the very end and defies expectations. The rapids sequences are really top notch and Voight is really brilliant here. Reynolds without a moustache is off-putting though!

A very nice little thriller. The stakes are low but it does a great job of pacing it just right. There's also a perfect level of jeopardy and realism. Cinema would be better for more filmmaking like this.

I've heard good things about this but it's bad. Joining the largely bad 'couples horror' subgenre. There's zero chemistry between these models. You need to make me believe they're actual couples in the 30 minutes of being annoying before the by the numbers horror.

Been out for the day in New Mills l. Accidentally colliding with bad weather and their Christmas market.

A thorough and fascinating tale of US governmental injustice, historical racism and a campaign for justice.

I get what the filmmaker is trying to do here, but it feels like the filmmaker is trying to do it. It doesn't really flow, for me, and feels like a montage of randoms things stiches together.

A beautiful, lyrical portrait of a poor family etched around the poetry of the mountains.

Terms like overrated and underrated are used far too regularly (and incorrectly) in film discussions but in the case of Cure for Wellness it was criminally dismissed.

The best film I've seen this year. A very personal documentary about addiction, both for the director & subjects. About a billion dollar industry farming addicts to make money. Medicare being abused by organised crime. Above all, a sobering portrait of humanity.

A really thoughtful and thorough doc on assisted dying. Focusing on the human aspect. I support assisted dying but in Canada the MAID law is close to eugenics and direct discrimination against anyone with a disability. More thought needs to go into this.

An absorbing portrait of a slightly frustrating man. What stands out is the dire need for, and power of, investigative journalism. When Poitras pulls him up is where this flourishes. Because this is no story of heroes. There are flaws everywhere.

Impressive Irish debut feature with strong performances and very good direction. Low-key but extremely well done.

Impressively made doc about the White House and the environment using archive footage and government papers to create a damning portrait of lies.

I love these kinds of docs. Ones which focus on the small scale in order to make a much bigger point. A very old school new look at racism in southern America. Past, present and future.

A fascinating inside portrait of the struggles of indigenous peoples in Brazil against a raft of illegal activities. Part nat geographic horror, political drama and action film. The impact on the Amazon River is terrifying.

Beautifully shot and paced, Seeds follows black generational farmers as they struggle to survive in a US only interested in wealth generation. Both a compelling character study and a damning indictment of a government of rich people who simply don't care about the poor.

New doc from the director of Honeyland. With a bigger budget, this is very National Geographic in terms of cinematography and Macedonia is brought to life beautifully. At its heart lays a very human story of a farmer struggle to make a living. Of a family having to migrate.
