Hi. I've been trying but I can't come up with a good thing to write here because the thing I wrote in this steam post took most of my energy.
UNBEATABLE - Important Announcement regarding UNBEATABLE - Steam News
Hi! UNBEATABLE was supposed to come out tomorrow! That’s a scary sentence. Here’s a worse one: UNBEATABLE will now release on December 9.  I hate that I have to say this. There’s no way to apologize f...

this is absolutely true, but the irony is this is also why apple makes the best computers. they detest the machine but they want the person who uses it to be happy
Microsoft hates computers AND everyone who uses them, whereas Apple only hates computers, and Linux only hates the people who use them. In this essay I will

you can put a million customization features in your game but unless you literally force the player to mess with it almost all of them will just go with defaults. and before you argue with me i know some of you have an ongoing email thread still called "re: follow up after gdc" that's two years old

i think i would be professionally disappeared by my publisher*
what if you shadowdropped it, as a prank, a little sales prank?

i think the thing that bothers me the most about the gdc rebrand is the implicit push of "GDC" as a non-abbreviatory signifier of itself. it no longer means Game Developer Conference. it just means GDC. GDC means "Festival of Gaming." it's an attempted PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDSification of the conference.

more of a game director job is the same skill as doing improv comedy than any of us would ever like to admit

reminder to any dev with anxiety who obsessively checks ever since they unveiled hour-by-hour wishlist tracking:

if you are scared because wishlist deletions seem higher than usual it's just because of the sale. deletions are higher for everyone. good news: the other number is even higher than that

there are a million better options for vocal synth sounds but the Voice Synth preset in Harmor will always be my go to for drafting vocal melodies for the purpose of demonstrating what they should be to other people. because it's very annoying

let the record show that NEWLY HUMAN FEELING, my recent collab with Moe Shop, references a song featuring @rj.dcellgames.com from basically the oldest extant work of mine i still consider canonical, because it samples a dixie flatline song and is thus the first thing i ever made featuring a vocaloid
like i really can't stress enough how weird it fucking feels to have a thing come up on your youtube home page that is designed specifically to target you and you alone personally

i can't believe jamie paige referenced me from 12 years ago in the recent moe shop collab and just waited for it to go off in my face like a proximity mine when i finally listened to it

if you're someone who wants video games as a medium to be taken seriously then you need to make an effort to avoid talking about them using phrases that a guest in rollercoaster tycoon would use

i directed this 1.0 announcement trailer for rhythm doctor; you will notice the word i did not use is "edit," and the reason for that is that the thing i say at the start of this trailer is 100% true (i mean. of course it is, imagine how brazen it would be if it wasn't)
You hit the button. That's it.

Rhythm Doctor is leaving Early Access on DECEMBER 6TH, 2025!

Save patients with your rhythm mastery, all the way through the final Act and our big finale.

something that I’ve been thinking about since DICE is that a lot of highly skilled devs are subject to management labelling them as ‘difficult’ and sidelining them simply because they point out and want to solve a problem, mismanagement which I think has contributed to a lot of failed projects
