Steady progress on Rice Street phase 1. The first photo really shows how much narrower the new roadway will be.

I set a goal to ride a bicycle 600 miles this calendar year. I know plenty of people ride a heck of a lot more than that, and I have too in years past. But this is honestly a stretch goal for me this year and is several times what I've ridden the past few years.

Monday I went out to look at the status of bike facilities implemented my the Met Council along the Gold Line. It was a grey and muddy day, but wantes to share some pics anyway. Here's a thread. All-in-all, some decent facilities added to the Saint Paul bike network.

I came across this sidewalk situation on Wabasha today. Not the first time I've seen it but this seemed particularly bad. The truck encroaching into the sidewalk is maddening, especially with the shin-busting trailer hitch sticking out like that.

If you live, work, visit or travel via 35th and 36th streets in S Mpls please fill out this survey!

These streets are a major safety issue (esp for people walking, biking and rolling).

I’m eager to see improvements for all.

Great article by @blindeke.bsky.social Road Diets are Good for Business and Quality of Life www.minnpost.com/cityscape/20...
Despite the debate, road diets are good for business, quality of life
It’s a wrongheaded, too often used talk radio staple to blame taxes on urban infrastructure construction of bike lanes and crosswalks.

I've never been in US Bank Stadium before. Pretty cool building. Here for a 5K fun run the kiddo.

Concordia/Rondo mill and overlay is coming along. Street repaving is complete. Striping is half done. One of the travel lanes was removed in favor of a buffered bike lane. Might slow down traffic speeds (this is a good thing).

Loving the new ped refuge islands along Snelling. I wish the medians had been landscaped, but concerns about maintenance resulted in concrete.

New shared use path along the golf course with surface stormwater management (hopefully the stormwater features start to look better after grass comes in)

New bumpouts at Highland Park Middle School to help kids walking to school.

Before and After of MnDOT's project on Snelling between Ford Pkwy and Montreal. Night and day difference with fewer lanes, medians, narrower overall width, shared use trail, new lighting, and ped refuges.

I like these little medians popping up all over the place in Minneapolis.

Greetings new followers from Twitter. Let me introduce myself. I'm a liberal white guy with a beard from South Minneapolis who likes bikes. You won't have any trouble mixing me up with other people on the internet.

Ramsey County's Larpenteur reconstruction at White Bear is coming along. New sidewalks and bike lanes, and fewer travel lanes.

Gold Line station at Ecolab Plaza under construction. Love that the project removed the free right-tuen lane from SB Saint Peter. Also visible in top left is Ecolab's revamped plaza area completed last year.

Is anyone interested in buying my tickets to Koo Koo Kanga Roo at First Ave on March 23? I have 5 tix I'd sell. Including fees, I paid $165. Make me an offer!

The end result of Threads, Bluesky, and Twitter all being basically the same thing is that I end up using them all less because I can't decide which platform to embrace.

At Saint Paul Planning Commission this morning we had a public hearing on the updated Bike Plan. Powerful testimony from several young people who spoke of their desire to be less car-dependent, and about bike amenities factoring into their residential location decisions. This is about the future.
