The idea of buying commercial warehouses and converting them into detention camps is so viscerally chilling to people that it's being opposed even in places which might otherwise support new prisons.
Remarkable: Trump's planned migrant prison camps are hitting deep resistance in red areas. In Virginia's partly rural Hanover (+26 Trump) opposition is intense. GOP leaders in other states are opposed.

Two women trained as first responders were abducted by three ICE agents. One of the agents starts seizing. The other two don’t know what to do. The women jump into action and save the agent’s life, only to be re-handcuffed and processed.

Calls are growing to release Palestinian protester Leqaa Kordia, who was arrested at a Columbia University protest in 2024.

Although that charge was dismissed, she was later detained at an immigration check-in and sent to an ICE jail in Texas, where she has been held since March.

Leqaa Kordia was arrested in March at her ICE appointment in New Jersey and immediately sent to the Prairieland Detention Center where she’s been held ever since. People are organizing to demand her release, like her fellow Palestinians arrested at the Colombia U. Gaza solidarity protests.
