One other thing is that I couldn't stand PowerShell. I switched to nushell a few years back and never looked back. I'm even considering trying it on macOS so that it remains a constant no matter what OS I'm using. Less context switching is always welcome to me.

I run into minor annoyances like \r\n newlines every now and then. And "path too long" errors. Those kind of things.

But besides that nothing too notable.

I never went all out with WSL like one of my coworkers does. I only use WSL for one-off tasks when I can't be bothered to set up an infrequently used CLI tool or whatever on Windows. Or when I'm debugging stuff for Scala Native or GraalVM native-image.

Honestly not as bad as I was initially expecting it to be. I don't even feel it most of the time. But that's probably because I'm almost exclusively doing pure JVM work.

The pain really sets in once I have to do anything native. Luckily that's rare for me.

It should be coming soon. I'm curious how I'll like it. The reason I switched off MacBook was because I had an absolutely terrible experience with the generation with that awful butterfly keyboard and touchpad. It broke multiple times for me.

Anyway hoping for the best 😅

Yeah, that's actually impressive 😅

The state of Twitter is dire. I haven't been posting much lately but even just reading stuff on there is tiring. Like a person I follow will make an innocuous post and then the comments will be full of random angry comments. I know Twitter has always had a reputation but it was never this bad.

Well I hope it was at least backend logs and not frontend like my coworker 😅

but it's always fun discovering how each person does their print debugging. Everyone has their own unique flair 😅

Still better than one of my past coworkers who would write obscene stuff the longer their debugging session went on as the frustration set in 😬

Yeah exactly. Apparently this Russian company makes stationery products and decided to use Japanese for this notebook cover. And well, many mistakes were made... 😅 Still wondering how they managed that one though.

Anyway, I don't think long trips like this are for me. I think my upper limit is like 3 weeks. Ideally 2. I realized I just can't relax and feel comfortable when I'm away from home.
