I've been seeing the phrase "grippy socks" a lot lately and oh... I would have never guessed the meaning. I always just assumed it was a weird fetish thing or something. Whoops 😅

All right, then. Keep your secrets, Copilot.

Man I hate this kind of abbreviation style so much. I wish could see "cntnts" as "contents", but my brain is like "nope, it's cuntnuts" 😭

Updating to the latest Nvidia drivers broke my PC. I'd just get a black screen where I could only see my mouse cursor. It was a pain to rollback the driver in that state.

Apparently this is a very common issue and has been going on for months. What's Nvidia doing over there? 😭

GIMP 3.0 is out and they finally fixed the UI scaling! Maybe I can actually comfortably use it now 😂 Let's give it another try.

Here's the before/after for me on a 4k monitor:

After 4 years of using Windows for work, I'm going back to a MacBook. Company just ordered a new M4 with practically everything maxed out (except 64gb instead of 128gb). It's ridiculous expensive, especially with the exchange rate. Nearing 5000 USD 😭 Glad I'm not paying for it.

Great, my left earbud isn't charging for some reason and the only remaining "solution" I can find online is this 😭

I couldn't help myself when reviewing my coworker's PR

Well this is looking chaotic. How many more typhoons can we fit in here?

Finally back in Japan after 6 weeks in the US.
1. damn it's hot here (and apparently it was way worse while I was gone?)
2. I gained quite a bit of weight (as expected... 😅)
3. my flight was great, the 3 seats around me were all empty and nobody behind me either

I'm currently in California. I saw a Japanese grocery store so I decided to check it out because I was curious. I entered and literally every single person was either in cosplay or wearing an anime shirt. Like full on french maid outfits and stuff. I felt weirdly underdressed 😅

I'm currently in the US half for work and half as vacation and holy crap help me. Apparently I just had 2000 calories for lunch 🇺🇸🦅

I'm here for over a month and have a health checkup soon after I return to Japan... 😨

Jesus... just found out my parents were nearly kidnapped in Mexico. They were held at gunpoint for a few hours. The gang members wanted to move my parents to a 2nd location and were asking for contacts. Luckily my dad didn't do that and got away with just using his debit card.

oof, Scala Steward made a PR which looked like it was updating a dependency version but it actually changed a normal source file outside the project folder. That was an api version header of an external service... 😭

Gotta be more careful when reviewing PRs like this...

Today when I went out for lunch I saw a Velomobile for the first time in person. It was kind of surreal. I was like, "What is this mini shinkansen barreling towards me!? ...oh" 😅

This is the 2nd time a former coworker has shown interest in coming back after leaving once before, and we hired them again. I'm not sure how common that is but for such a small team I thought it was kind of funny. And now a 3rd former coworker has expressed interest too 😂

I don't know why the "Show more" / "Read more" links on so many websites are a lie. If you displayed all the content without needing to truncate anything, why are you showing me a "Show more" link that literally does nothing? Not just Twitter, but YouTube does this too.

I made a pretty significant update to sbt-test-shards. It now supports automatic node balancing by taking the test reports #sbt generates and then distributing the tests evenly based on how much time they take. This significantly reduced CI times for us.

I gave it a chance but I turned off adaptive triggers completely on my PS5. I haven't encountered a game where I felt it actually added to the experience in a positive way.

Is there one? Astro's Playroom maybe? I haven't played that yet but I had heard positive things.

My computer keeps crashing and I suspect it's the GPU. I temporarily replaced it with my old GPU and man... were these things always so small?

I worked the whole day today only to learn today was a holiday 🤦

I'm not sure if this is worse or showing up to the office only to find no one there. I've unfortunately done both...

I'm glad I did this because I'm unfortunately finding many mistakes in the Japanese. I'm documenting everything I find. I wonder if Larian would do something if I send them a list. Looking at their forums, it seems like they've been receptive for past games

Just a few examples:
It worked! I created a mod for Baldur's Gate 3 so that I can display multiple languages simultaneously. Generally you'd only use it for 2 languages, but 3 works all the same (even if it's overkill... 😅)

I mostly do this for language learning, as well as analyzing localizations.
