Though the comment about it being fairly negative toward leftist revolutionaries is funny, because it could never be as negative toward them as another leftist revolutionary

I also _love_ PTA though, and since watching OBAA two weeks ago, I've forced my housemates to watch like 4 other movies of his

This review is wild to me because I actually agree with almost everything you said in it, and yet for me it was still a 5/5 movie, and one of the best mainstream films I've ever seen.

The parts of it I loved were so resonant that the flawed parts felt nearly inconsequential to me.

Yeah, that's fair! I'm definitely more critical of AI as a business strategy than I am as a tool for non-commercial use
November 18, 2025 at 12:25 AM
Oh yeah definitely, I don't mean that people thought that it was good art, just that it was okay that it wasn't, because that wasn't the point.

Sounds like maybe I just missed a lot of the initial negativity though, since I mostly remember people thinking it was a hilarious fuck you to nintendo

Okay, "and the conversation continues" is a very succinct way of saying something that resonates with me. Thank you!

I can absolutely understand having an emotional response to that kind of revelation though
November 17, 2025 at 10:44 PM
That's somewhat fair, but it feels like a standard that isn't applied to human artists? Like, I remember when Pal World came out, and everyone was thrilled at how closely the art style matched pokemon, until it came out that they may have used AI.

When it was presumed human art, that didn't matter
November 17, 2025 at 10:42 PM
I realize this question probably comes across as me trying to normalize AI art or something, and that's not my intent at all. It's just a complex topic I find myself struggling to reason about

I always use nonsense licenses, but my favorite has been something along the lines of "absolutely nobody is allowed to use this software"

My thought was that it'd scare off anyone who either values or is bound by intellectual property, and anyone else would happily ignore the clearly silly license
