One of my favorite records of the new century. Absolutely love this record and go back to it constantly.

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

anyway that’s why these events are important

With the way they frame stories about this admin, I’m never donating to NPR again. They’re poison at this point.

Just a few games away from Dodger pitching coach Mark Prior running up into the stands asking, “Is there a pitcher in the house? We need a pitcher!”

Dieter Ruehle trolling the not-from-anywhere-near-Los-Angeles Angels at Dodger stadium by playing the theme from The OC is A+.

Wasn’t sure about Murderbot from the trailers. My brain had SecUnit as more androgynous. And the Skarsgård narration wasn’t working for me, too goofy.

But it all absolutely works in the first ep. Genuine laugh out loud moments throughout. Skarsgård nails the awkwardness.

Really enjoyed it.

Hey y’all. Just like with Chris Cillizza, there’s no reason to repost whatever bullshit Eric Lipton is on this week. It’s easy enough to just note he’s a dipshit carrying water for his workplace and the current administration and move on.

Did someone write and schedule these posts in December ‘24 and forget to update them before they posted?
Inflation is the number one issue on people’s minds.

It was the biggest issue during the election.

And already Donald Trump is breaking his promise to do something about it.

SECOND: FREEZE THE SENATE.

Call on your Dem senators to engage in political hardball. Blanket opposition and using procedural tools like rejecting unanimous consent and quorum calls to gum up the works.

One thing that might help, and I don’t know if they’ve tried this yet, but the democrats could send an email to their mailing list explaining how outraged James Carville is and asking if we can donate money.

Today, a brush fire started in Pacific Palisades fueled by extremely high winds.

At the Getty Villa, some trees & vegetation on site have burned, but no structures are on fire, and staff and the collection remain safe.

The Villa is closed to non-emergency staff and the public.

Was at The Getty Center today. This is what the Palisades fire looked like this afternoon. LA Times now saying there are reports that the Getty Villa is on fire. Back at home it sounds like we’re sitting in a jet engine when the winds speed up.

Just realized I didn’t have Kara Swisher, unquestioning PR hack for techbros, blocked. Fixed now.

Man that version of Fairytale of New York on SNL was lifeless as fuck.

Favorite poster type since the influx: “Hey I know, block and move on, but let me amplify this person saying heinous shit because you’ve never seen a person saying heinous shit online before!”

Favorite because blocking them is trimming my follow list after gorging a bit in starter packs last month

If you asked me to rattle off 10 of the best SFF books I’ve read this century I’d name seven of these. And if you mentioned the other three I’d make finger guns and say, “Can’t go wrong with those neither.”

This place at this moment feels like the better days of twitter, maybe around 2010ish? At least for me. It was before scrolling became doomscrolling. Before the attention trolls took over the whole ecosystem.
I open my Bluesky feed and it is full of really cool people saying really smart things and being really passionate about really interesting stuff.

I like this version of social media, and the world.

Thanks, folks.

The problem with “skeets” is that it’s derived from “tweets” which goes against the “this ain’t twitter” vibe here.

lets shake hands & agree to ignore every single garbage pundit & the terrible pieces they write for clicks. let them fade into obscurity so they're all sitting together at the bottom of a well yelling about the need for centrism so when it echoes back at them they think they still have an audience.
