Non-Americans should receive a weekly stipend or regular compensation payout for the emotional labour of having to learn entirely against our will about the existence and exploits of every Olivia Nuzzi type character - we did nothing to deserve any of this

I would have thought teaching was a 'public commitment'
Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

He will continue teaching.

If you read this with knowledge of the Australian slang use of 'root' this post takes on a whole different meaning
Nuzzi, RFK Jr., and Lizza is a morally uncomplicated root for the asteroid scenario and I’m enjoying all of it

The thing here is a get a serial killer vibe from the pic grok generated
I know people think Musk only bought Twitter to help the rise of fascism.

While that’s important, I still think it’s secondary to his primary goal, which was to own the place where his fans praise him.

With AI, Musk’s use of the platform for love and validation is only getting more transparent.

So, it's not just my gym then.
I guess it adds to the functional fitness aspect of it to have to search for weights strewn around the place.

I have had another thought about the malaise of the ALP. The problem with being an ideology-free zone is that, when you get back in power, there is no basis from which to push back against the entrenched interests in the public service.

So, the choice in the Libs is fundamentalist Christians or IPA zealots (throw in a few fundies that are also with the IPA for a bit of fun)?

There was a further question about identifying the “two parts of civil law”. I had no idea how they expected it to be divided. They could have wanted common law and equity; or contract and tort; or a few other combos

Dog is currently wearing a cone of shame. He has developed a habit of licking it for food he spilt. We usually tell him to stop because it's gross. But, just then, he was doing it while looking at me out of the corner of his eye to see if I was looking and I just couldn't tell him off.

Kid is doing a high school humanities thing on the legal system. They just asked who has the burden of proof in a civil proceeding and were not impressed when I said "it depends". I then gave the answer needed for a year 8 task.

Uh, what?
If you are not in academia, you might not know this, but job interviews used to be held at conferences IN HOTEL ROOMS. Women candidates in a hotel room alone with often all-male committees. People sitting on beds! The horror stories I've heard.
I thing I sometimes thing about is that university departments were still doing job interviews in hotel rooms in the mid aughts
