Bad Bunny’s performance has put me in such a good mood. The show was so beautiful, inclusive, and inspiring. It reminded me that the desire for a better world must be rooted in love for others.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

You cannot counter to American exceptionalism with the belief that the U.S. is uniquely evil and morally inferior to all other nations. And you most definitely cannot counter it with European or Canadian exceptionalism. The best counter to American exceptionalism is education, humility, and empathy.

The album has been out for 1,267 days. I’m still waiting for the day I can sing along to this lyric and TRULY feel it. The day will come though.

What is your favorite part about researching quantum information/communication? I’m just curious and want to hear from others in the community!

Labor productivity has more than doubled since the late 1960s. But workers’ compensation has barely budged.

Yes. The economy is rigged in favor of the wealthy.

I assumed that the news would distress me the most this year. But seeing so many awful takes from people that I personally know has been FAR WORSE. I didn’t expect this many people to mindlessly adopt the malicious rhetoric and illogical narratives spewed by those with the most political power.

Reminder!
You can search for digital content about things you love and then engage with others online about how much you like and appreciate that content.

Don't comply in advance.

We are watching people in fear trying to avoid pain by censoring themselves and changing their behavior before being compelled to.

Following rules of a group is pro-social behavior that is dangerous now. How can you resist this urge as a law-abiding citizen? A quick 🧵

People need to realize that others can hear your silence. Your silence becomes even louder when you finally choose to break it. You don’t need to post about every tragedy that occurs, but be mindful of the conclusions that can be drawn from your selective silence.

I think everyone should read a book from an unreliable narrator at some point in their childhood. I feel like it would help a lot of people recognize when someone is untrustworthy without needing someone else to tell them that.

I LOVE when movies go the extra mile. The Devil Wears Prada came out YEARS ago but almost all of the outfits are still stunning today because they cared enough to work with real fashion experts to create timeless looks. Social media is filled with so much bad news that I thought I’d share this.
a woman is holding a pair of glasses and says that 's all
Alt: Meryl Streep in the movie The Devil Wears Prada is sitting in an office chair and looks Anne Hathaway up and down, then says “That’s all.” She casually turns away by swiveling her chair to signal the conversation is over.
