Time is a flat circle: some 90 years ago this week, Anna Freud was arrested by the Gestapo in Vienna and held in detention overnight. It frightened Freud enough to finally put into motion a forced emigration plan. Now, in our time, similarly young scholars are being snatched off the street.

Thank goodness we have Thomas Edsall in the paper of record to block quote emails from academics saying things that are plainly obvious. And yes, I really needed 5 sentences from a law prof’s substack to tell me Trump’s world is illusory and solipsistic.

Thank goodness we have Thomas Edsall in the paper of record to block quote emails from academics saying things that are plainly obvious. And yes, I really needed 5 sentences from a law prof’s substack to tell me Trump’s world is illusory and solipsistic.
